It is true when Jefferson said that Monticello is the best place on earth. Like Mt. Vernon, Monticello has spectacular views. When the trees come alive I imagine it's like a float palace in the trees.
Jefferson was a man of so many talents. He had amazing organizational skills at Monticello. The layout of the home was amazing. The gardens I imagine in spring are spectacular.
The home is symmetrical and if I could live anywhere I would live there. It is a small home, but I am assuming large for it's day. I also thought that Mt. Vernon was quite small as well. My favorite things about Monticello ? His library, his museum and I suppose the room where his "inventions" were displayed.
The girls seemed to really enjoy themselves. James Monroe's home is not far from there either. It is run by the college of William and Mary.
We just quickly ran in there and grabbed a book and Christmas ornament and headed back to the hotel.
