It was suggested that I go to St. Paul's Cathedral and then cross the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern. So, I got up that morning and went. It was wasn't raining when I arrived so I sat in a garden by the church and had a little lunch. There were a few other people lunching as well. There was a point when it started to sprinkle so I grabbed my umbrella and attempted to eat and hold it at the same time. I am thinking that this type of multi tasking is not my expertise.
I paid my fees and went inside. It was of course beautiful. I walked around and saw where people had been buried. There were a lot of military people buried there. Not so much the kings, queens, and famous, but those who served their country. So, I walked around trying to figure out what war was what etc. I used to never associate England with India, but after my two trips and meeting Shal it has given me a better understanding of what happened there.
Um, is that a new phallic symbol for me to admire ?? |
Yes, it is in fact the Gurken |
It's the bridge and Tate Modern |
I walked up the stairs to the whispering room. It was quite the walk and I can't imagine monks climbing all of those stairs and whispering. I can only visualize them panting...because that is exactly what I did was pant. I of course thought people were starring because I had been sweating so much. Anyway, it was beautiful and walked up another level. This time I was totally wiped out, but loved the view. I could only spot the gurken, but, you know me and my phallic symbols....did I say that ?
I then proceeded over the Millennium Bridge to the Modern Tate museum. This museum appears large, but does not contain enough art for me. I wasn't really that pleased with it. Not a cool thing to say, but I thought it would be filled with modern art and Warhol etc. This was not the case. It wasn't a waste of time and I thought the building was pretty cool , but I will most likely never go back.
Why somebody put a squash there.... |

Day 13
I decided again to do another church/museum day. This time I went to Westminster Abbey and the Tate Brit. I have already blogged about my special experience at Westminster Abbey and being able to see the Edward Confessor chapel, however I am not sure that I blogged about the Tate Brit. Let me tell you how exciting that museum is. It was so exciting that I really don't remember anything about it . I just remember leaving it and heading back to the tube through Pimlico thinking how easy it would have been to use the tube the last time I had been there with my mother and sister.
