Regatta Regatta Enchilada Regatta
The Song of the day : Love and Rockets- So Alive
So, I attended one of my first official regatta's yesterday in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I witnessed the whole regatta process. Well, not the whole thing because I never saw the kids assembling the boats and placing them in the water. I did see them take it out though and disassemble it..you know what coaches hate parents to do, but I thought it was pretty cool.
Ya gotta see it happen once ! I am friends with president of the club, so it's interesting to hear the disasters that take place. The word "crab" and the boat tipped, the seat cracked, the oar unlocked, etc. I think anything that could go wrong went wrong except for the boat sinking. I am interested in reading about the history of rowing and what the first boats were like, etc.
The new boats are so technical with build in shoes, speakers etc. Now, of course is you are reading this and this is old school...well I have no idea. Thus my reason to read up on such things. This regatta had schools from around the region....Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.
Colleges: Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Vanderbilt, etc. I had no idea who the other schools were. I think three schools had the colors yellow, black and white so it was hard telling what boat was out there....the oars are different...I could barely see the oars.
So, as the parent of a rower you sit in the "stands" or chairs and watch kids pass by in boats. Unless you have binoculars you'll never know it that is your kids boat....the schedules are totally useless.
Here is my last shot. The twins were going NUTS waiting to go home. We didn't bring enough things for them to do. So we bought them ice cream and I took this shot.
Other things: Going to Tennessee on Friday to look at Kandinsky and then another trip after that for a week. I am almost recovered from my surgery. I am thinking the pain and healing will be over tomorrow. Just in time for my follow up appointment. Isn't that how it always is ?
Enchiladas: The team did serve tacos, but no enchilada..it rhymes with regatta !!!
