I am aware that these pictures are boring, but I had only my iPhone and bought a lovely book that has better photographs.
Mrs. F and I packed a picnic lunch, our umbrellas and set off for a National Trust Home Waddesdon. This palace was one home to the Rothchilds Family. It is spectacular. In fact, I would say it's grander than Hearst Castle. There were so many rooms I am sure I would have got lost in that house if I was a visitor. The first room was the hallway. The Rothchilds had an ornate enormous music box. It was not made in India, but had an Indian theme. I suppose I could describe each room, but truly who has the time. There were so many rooms that I pleased me. One of the rooms happen to be the smoking room. I loved the leather furniture. I could imagine men in there sitting around smoking and discussing war, politics, and adventures. The second room I found clever was one of the dining rooms. It wasn't a formal room. I am thinking perhaps it was a breakfast room. It had hidden doorways where employees could come in and out secretly. Any house that has secret doors that go to hidden staircases and secret rooms are quite pleasing to me. How I wish I lived in a house that I could escape my children and have peace. There were of course plenty of other rooms that I found beautiful and interesting, but I highly recommend just going. Waddesdon is known as the jewel of the National Trust and I can see why. The more I learn about England the more I am convinced that Buckinghamshire is the place to live.
