Mar and I have many theme songs, this is I am thinking our number one top ten theme song. Mar blessed me with her presence this weekend. We took a whirlwind tour of the south...and these are just the highlights !
This was Divine !!! |
We tried to immerse ourselves into culture of the south. This included : Wearing dresses, seeing large bugs, hearing cicadas, walking in the Atlantic Ocean, shopping at Piggly Wiggly, and eating waffles with fried chicken. We saw the Coosawhatchie River and decided that Mother Trucker Coosawatchie was going to be our catchphrase for the entire trip. Our trip started at the Atlanta Airport, search and got lost looking for a Chick Fil a restaurant and we ended up eating at a Hardee's.
We arrived in Bluffton, South Carolina and slept. The next morning we shampooed showered and shined. We got to the mini van and realized that Mar accidentally had left the lights on. So, we waited for a nice AAA man to show up and jump the car. He told us that we would have to charge the car for an hour. So, instead of eating at Paula Deen's restaurant we ended up driving our sugar buns to Charleston, South Carolina. Was not a part of our plan, but never the less fabulous.
Charleston is just different than Savannah. The houses are different and the smell of money is everywhere...kinda reminds me of Palo Alto. The homes are beautiful and enormous. We spend the day taking a bus tour and ended the evening at a wine bar. I had a watermelon tasting soda and Mar had some champagne. We snacked on wine, cheese, bread, and a finely sliced Italian meat. We decided at that point to go back to Bluffton. Good idea for Mar to leave the lights on and still wonder if it was sabotage ?
Yes, I am crazy... :) |
The next morning we got up and drove to Hilton Head. Just so Mar could dip her feet in the Atlantic Ocean. We then drove to Savannah and took a tour on a horse drawn carriage. It was lovely weather. We walked down to the water edge and had a fabulous lunch and then did some shopping and went home. The site seeing was great, but what was even better was just sitting in the car, listening to songs, dancing and screaming the lyrics to our favorite tunes. We learned that Mar loves ""Garota de Ipanema" and I love "Desafinado". Maybe Mar and I were sisters in a past life on the beaches of Brazil ?
Today I am taking my foodie friend to the Flying Biscuit and then to she is going back to the airport. Next time we are taking a whole week and just flying by the seat of our pants. That is what a girls trip is all about ! Good tunes, good food and good company ! I will cry watching Mar go back to Cali ! LOVE THAT COOSAWATCHIE !!!
