My sister and I are anglophiles.

I see this picture and I want to cry.... |
I have no idea when Alikona started her journey, but mine started probably when Princess Diana was married. There is also that we are both 75% British that we are curious about where are ancestors came. Were they famous ? Were they beheaded ?
Were they like the poor farmers in " The Holy Grail" all muddy and covered with **it screaming "We're being repressed"! Also, I might add watching Monty Pythons Flying Circus and Benny Hill as a child. Wow ! That is some pretty kinky stuff ! So this is when our journey began. I think my obsession with British Bands in the 80's help to contribute to it.
So, now comes the Queen's Jubilee. My friend is taking his mother to the Jubilee. Didn't bother to invite me along, because I would have been there in a heartbeat ! I suppose it will be a mad party, so I will just buy some souvenirs online to add to my anglophile family room.
My friend asked me " Why, why are you so obsessed with the royals"? I don't know, its always an upgrade to ones accent if they come from England. In addition if they speak The Queens English its always a plus. I do quite the good English accent, but I can't see myself going to London and passing as a Brit.

See ! Look at this pic, she scares me !!! |
My thoughts about the Queen ? Well she actually scares me. I watch the movie "The Queen" and how to present yourself....you know I would have to wear white gloves so she would not know that my hands are sweating. I would also be a lady of few words. I know...it doesn't sound like me. Yet, if you really knew Gretchie Love you would know that when I am nervous I can't stop talking. I am one who finds awkwardness in silence. I also lack grace. Not that it is not my full intention on being graceful, but if I try to hard I just fall on my face. Other than all the pomp and circumstance I would meet her.
I would ask her questions all about history and what its like to be crowned Queen of England. I suppose when one is born in to such circumstances...it's like having twins..you just do it.
To my friend who took their mother and not me.... |
God Save the Queen
Lyrics
God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.
O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall.
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On thee our hopes we fix:
God save the Queen.
Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen
From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O'er her thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.
O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall.
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On thee our hopes we fix:
God save the Queen.
Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen
From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O'er her thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!
God Save the Queen
