First of all, I came home from Costco to find a box on the porch and immediately thought...it must be from my mother...its my birthday present. Surprised that instead of buying me a book on Jacqueline Kennedy it was a beautiful quilt top for my kitchen table. I LOVE it ! I don't know if I will ever have the time to quilt, but I certainly do appreciate the quilts that my mother has made and given me. Unfortunately, I use them instead of displaying them...
I finished my book on Pablo Picasso two weeks ago and had book club last week. I had marked pages and was ready to participate. The book club was only an hour and all I could say was how much he was a disappointment to me. The man leading the group said he wanted to punch him, and I thought he should have been arrested. Here are some descriptions I have made of him: bipolar, brutal, manipulative, arrogant, self absorbed, selfish, narcissistic, womanizer and a player. He played his girlfriends against each other. When felt that people no longer served him he just cut them out of his life without any explanation. He abused his wives and girlfriends and would beat them and leave them unconscious, he spent time with his children until their cute phase ran out. He was a communist, he was favored by Nazi's, and he said the most degrading things to his wives and girlfriends. He got away with so much. By the end of his book 3 people in his life had committed suicide including his son after his death. He loved stupid insecure women.
My next book is on Cezanne. May he NOT disappoint me. Look, I know that artists do have some issues, but Picasso was just insane. I now have to separate his work from who he is on the inside. To me it just shows that no matter was peoples occupation is in life, no matter how much money they have, how big their house is, how fancy their car is, who they know...they can still be completely nuts. I knew this, but you know this autobiography just reinforces it.
Yeah and since the celebration of my birth is coming up...could someone buy me these shoes ?
