Notes from a Dog Park

I went to the half a million dollar dog park today. The dogs have been driving me NUTS at home and I didn't feel like walking them in this heat. So first thing in the morning I took the girls to the dog park. Alice wanted to play fetch with a slimy tennis ball and Owen just wanted to bite her leg the entire time. I am afraid Owen can not go to the dog park anymore. Alice's legs were bleeding and her tongue and eye were bleeding too. He just gets nervous around other dogs and bites her. Its weird ...its not an aggressive anger thing..its more like I said..nerves.

Anyway, its interesting how people "own" the park. The small dog park behind us was filled with yappy little dogs and their owners. I have to say that the conversations were interesting...just how suddenly animals become human. Don't get me wrong..I LOVE my dogs. but I know they're animals. First one lady showed up and placed a towel on the bench...claiming that bench her territory. People started arriving and sitting on the bench. One man brought a broom and scooper and was caring for the rocks and picking up the dog poop in the little area. One lady was discussing how it was her dogs birthday and that they were going to be switching up a special collar with other dogs for their birthdays. Commenting on how the crew was small due to summer holidays.

I like taking Alice to the dog park. I like she is able to run around free and play with her. She could care less about other dogs. Owen also could care less about other dogs, but his treating Alice's leg like a chicken wing is not cool. Poor Owen he's going to howl when we leave him alone in his crate. Those two are inseparable.

It's ME in London last year....lets have a moment of silence ...miss you HOP !

Excited about my trip to DC next week. Just me ! Driving up because it's cheaper than flying...lots of reading and museums....kinda like London...just the heat is unbearable and nobody has really cool accents :)
