Did I mention the elephant Safari ?

Okay, I have given up on dates. Really, when you do as many things as we have...it makes it hard to remember what day I did what. The day we climbed up to that Jain statue I got back to Igoor and with blisters on my feet I went to a village market. There I saw produce and spices being sold. I met a cute little boy who walked up to me and stared. I gave that little boy an American dollar and he decided I was okay. Later, Shalini gave him and his friend 40 rupees. I then visited a cute village temple and then later went on an elephant safari.

We loaded up on a family truck and drove out to some rice fields where elephants were scene. I then learned how truly dangerous elephants are. We met up with an elephant expert whose job it is to manage the elephants around the village. He tells people where they are located, captures them and sends them off to an animal preserve. The elephants eventually make it back to the village. Anyway, we drove up to where they were and we scared them away into a small forest of trees and bushes. They started fighting and we could hear their trunks trumpet and see the dust rising above the trees.  Okay, can I just tell you how freaking scared I was ? That I no longer had to see the elephants. That hearing that roar of their trunks was enough for me ? I could just envision those 3 elephants charging out of those trees and bushes turning our truck over.

We waited across a river for awhile and they never came. It was however really nice to be out in the rice fields. There were no other animals around and it was very beautiful and peaceful. The moon was full and as the sun came down behind some trees...I could swear that I was in Africa. I was not though...I was in India.
