and if a double decker bus....crashes into us....

Again, I can not implore to you enough how uneducated I am. So, please take my views with caution. Frankly honey I have no idea what I am talking about...

Global warming is depressing. There is man in the bubble who has some sort of degree in science. He has a huge sign coming from his yard that says " Global Warming is a Hoax". We use his sign when giving directions, its not a sign now it's just a landmark. Anyway, when I see it, I think " Holy Crap, how could you not believe that is happening". Look at the weather in Europe ! People are dying, people are stuck at home, people are not prepared for it. The  entire city of London practically shuts down because of it. Business are closed and plays are cancelled because the actors can not get to the theatres. Can you imagine snow plows in London ? Well I can because I was there ...oh two months ago ...waaaah !  (midlife crisis moment there) . I of course compare everything to Germany because I really enjoyed living there. I loved the countryside, the public transportation, the shops, the people, and I really liked the way they take care of themselves. So many people in such a little country its what you have to do. People compost, people recycle, people don't eat processed food.  Imagine if (Kraft you don't want to read this) people stopped eating processed food ? What if people in America actually used public transportation ? What if EVERYONE recycled ? What if everyone ate organic ? What an amazing place this would be ! I even feel guilty now I have the iPad. You know tomorrow Apple will come out with a better version. Then I will want a new ipad because the new one is better.  Okay, lets just say that by some freak of nature that we (my man and I ) come across a ton of money. Well lets just say first I would make him move to Europe. Okay, how about we have enough money that we can afford new electronics. It just saddens me to think of all the waste from those electronics are made into toxic toys for kids in China. Shal says that the poor kids in India get all the crappy toxic toys too. I just can't imagine how many of these toys become landfill ? This is why I am so anti build a bear and stuffed animals in general. I tell S "Honey, that is just landfill about to happen". I refuse to buy my kids cheap toys that last 1 week.
Perfect example hybrid double decker bus in London

Okay what to do about it ? Stop eating processed food ? Stop drinking cancer in a can ? Stop buying products made in China ? Stop buying so many flippin electronics ? Use public transportation ? Okay, that one I have to bitch about. People in the bubble do not use the bus. Using the bus in the bubble is different than using the bus in Europe. Nobody uses the bus in the bubble. The bus is for people without cars. When you drive pass a bus stop in the bubble...well you stare. It's almost frowned upon. How can people start using the bus around here ? I can't imagine what the Public Transportation Authorities would have to do to make this happen. I am sure they try all the time. The buses appear to be really clean and they appear to be really empty. The last time I took a bus was...1994 ? Oh and I took one in London...double decker top floor ! Wow okay, that is my idea ! Why not have a few double decker buses in the bubble ? Red ones ? Kids would LOVE to ride on it ! Okay, this is why I blog so I can have these fantastic ideas :)  Crazy, but fantastic in my mind !

You are right, and it's sad to think that our American culture is so behind in our thinking regarding consumerism, and the effects we make with each concious choice at the time of sale.

My little compost pile in Livermore might not solve the world's problems, and spending $4 instead of $2 on eggs because I choose organic, free range, antibiotic free eggs doesn't make a big dent in our consumerism. I'm just hoping that collectively these choices with our pocket books will add up to a positive change in our communities.

Cheers.
