You want random ADHD blogging...this is random ADHD blogging.....
Day 1: Went to Thai Food in Pimlico
Day 2: Spend most of the day walking with mum and A to Victoria Coach Station and Victoria Tube Station. Later we met up with Denise our friend from Dusseldorf, Germany and went for Indian.
Day3: I did rock the House of Commons. I showed up on the wrong day (and this surprises you). The guards let my mother, sister, Denise and I into Westminster Hall. It is the only building left after the first House of Commons burned down. Then I was let into the reception lobby. Then I called Mrs. Fand indeed it was the wrong day to go. But we did meet some very nice people and a hottie named Allen who worked for the Royal Air Force. He had the most lovely accent and we all melted when he talked. He is married with two children. He did not want his picture posted on Facebook. I of course posted it...to cause a ruckus...but I will never see Allen the air man again. After leaving the HOC in humiliation we decided to walk to Trafalgar Square. Passed Downing Street...( um I was quite shocked to find us in front of the PM's street...not on the bucket list) to Trafalgar Square and made our way to Covenant Garden (cute but tourist trap or shopping for really old people on dates) . Met a wonderful man (Jim) who does tours of London who told us all about the area. That night Denise, Alikona and I went to Buckingham Palace. It was dark, nobody was there, and I didn't see the queen. I am sure she was intimated by me ;). We never made it to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guards in the light. Windsor Castle is far more interesting. Also, Buckingham Palace lacks grandeur. I thought it would be a wee bit prettier. The White House is prettier.
Day 4: Went back to the House of Commons. It was the right day and the wrong guard. He was NOT a nice gentlemen AT ALL. We told him that we had an appointment with Mrs. F and he did not believe us and was not going to let us in. We asked him if we he would call the reception desk and tell us that we had an appointment. He informed us that " this is not a hotel" ! He told us " If you continue to talk to me that way you will never go in". Yes Mr. Officer ....we just pulled that name out of our heads and we are lying to you. Apparently, the Prince of Qatar or something along those lines was visiting. Okay, I could not pick out who this person is if he was standing in front of me. So, would it really make a difference? I did however see someone who recognized me from the day before and she let us in. The tour was magnificent ! Very educational and the building and tour were LOVELY !! When I left the HOC...the security guards were talking and pointing at me....was it my hat...or was it the stink I made ?? We then went to St. Margaret's Church where my friend Caroline was married and Sir Winston Churchill as well and then Westminster Abbey. Westminster Abbey was insane. There was a service going on, but so many tourists. It took from the spirituality of the whole experience. Also, without a great knowledge of Latin, it's hard to know whose tomb you are looking at. We then went for Fish and Chips and Harrod's. Harrod's was a little OTT for me. The customer service was too much....I don't like to be referred to as Madame. Pricing was of course crazy, and we missed the food court. We walked by the Gap and got my first cashmere sweater and a few blouses. Mom and I went home and CRASHED ! I wish we had cheap cabs in Danville. I could be cabbing it all the time.
Day 5: Meet up with Colleen from High School and spent the day with her having coffee at Victoria Station, Leister Square , Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and Greenwich. Tower of London was again a tourist trap, but I got to see where famous people were beheaded and buried. Poor Lady Jane Gray and Anne Boleyn. Perhaps, there are times when one would not be a part of royalty. I really enjoyed hanging out with her and getting to know her better. That night we had dinner at Grumbles in Pimlico. I would go there again in a heartbeat !

FINALLY I got on here. Loved reading more about your trip and checking out your pictures. Don't be sad Gretch. Both the travel and languages and also family life can be fulfilling. Both are full of things to learn and ways to grow. And you're good at both. I'm glad you got to get out there and do something different though - sounds refreshing. xoxo
