Chunnel, Gay Paree, and other such nonsense...

Now...where was I with my OTT ADHD Blogging....
Ah yes we called our cab driver Robert ( hugs Robert) and he drove us to the St-Pancras station. I don't know what I was expecting in a train station. I thought it would be a more dramatic event. Nope, it was like an extended BART trip.  We did however meet a lovely girl named Claire who is in charge of the musical Momma Mia. E&A would have been in heaven !!  She was meeting a member of ABBA that night...girl why did you not provide us with tickets ??  We also met some people from Brazil touring Europe for a month. We saw them two days later at Notre Dame.
Day 1 in Paris: Checked into the Jolly Lotti Hotel. It was in a very posh area. The WIFI was less than desirable, but the staff was friendly and the room was fantastic. It was between the Ritz and the Le Jardin de Tuilleries. Later I can spell check since I am not as fantastic with French as I am with other French things. Mom, Alikona, and I walked across the street to a cafe and had lunch.  Um...$11 Diet Cokes ?  My latte was not huge with tons of milk and oh my gosh so many phony people. Tons of really really bad bad plastic surgery and fur coats !!! Anyway, Ali and I are OFFICIALLY in LOVE with French Butter.  We SLATHERED it on our rolls.  If we were told the only items we could have the rest of our time in Paris were rolls, French Butter and Diet Coke...we would have been tres content !!! Mom went to back Lotti to rest and Alikona and I did a little tour of the Seine. Okay, the Eiffel Tower is huge right ? So, when I looked at it, I didn't realize that ...well it was far away.  So we started walking to it.  We met a lovely gypsy lady on the way there that was trying to "con" us with the whole ring scandal.  Fortunately, someone at the Tower had told me about  the ring dealo and told Ali to just ignore it. I was ticked !! We had been what 30 minutes into our trip and already someone is trying to steal our money ? We eventually made it to the Eiffel Tower.  It was a lot smaller and not so Grandeur as I had once remembered.  I think actually my entire trip to Paris was not as romantic and exciting as it once was when I was 24.  Perhaps, its it is who you are with not where you are.  Anyway, we cabbed it back to the Hotel.

Day 2: Woke up early and went down to the hotel for breakfast.  Ali will tell you it was the most interesting part of the trip was breakfast.  We loved all of the food, but the people just stare at everyone who walks in.  So, Alikona and I pretended we were "all this and a bag of chips" and walked in like our shit don't stink.  We took a tour of Paris and learned a whole bunch of facts about Paris...that we are not quite sure if they are true or not. We then took a boat tour on the Seine.  It was cheezy...tourism is cheezy. Yet, when I look back on this trip I hope I look back with fondness and not appearing so bitter.
We went to Sacre Coeur and Montmarte. This part I did enjoy. Love the Sacre Coeur ! There were nuns singing in the church. It was beautiful and a spiritual experience.  There is just something about nuns and monks. People who dedicate themselves like they do to the lord. Well, it truly impresses me. Then we shopped at the Montmarte. I found these incredible naughty dice ( which I am afraid will never be used) a cute handbags, and things for the kids. I also found a cafe that I had take a picture of years ago. I had the picture enlarged and framed. It's pink and green and looks so unique compared to the other buildings that I loved it. It was still there and pink...but it was dark.  I like this area of Paris.  It's so sweet and wished I could have spent more time up there walking around.
