Really, I thought I was losing my mind. Crying all the time, feeling I was a bad mother, unaccomplished, rejected, unloved, feeling very alone etc. etc. etc. My mother never experienced a midlife crisis, in fact I don't think I have ever met anyone who has had one. Yet, there are tons of books out there on them. I suppose that women don't talk about it. There seems to be more books on men turning 40 and having them. Many with ridiculous titles. I picked some books on amazon.com yesterday here are my choices below. I don't know if I can say I actually read any book that truly inspired me. I am hoping "The Female Brain" will . " The Midlife Meltdown" was one I am still debating on purchasing. It did have this to say :
* Midlife can be a turning point for those who will use it as such. It is the time of life to take inventory of your life. It is the time to pay attention to the whispers that have been alerting you of the imbalances in your professional, personal, and family life as well as your physical,
emotional, and even your financial health. It is a time to put your hands back on the wheel in terms of your life's course. It is a time to reflect on the past and what you have learned from it. It is the time to get rid of any baggage you are still toting on this earthly journey that may be weighing you down, such as debt, unforgiveness, anger, and personal relationships that take all your energy and rob you of being all you were meant to be. (this is me in a nutshell)
