It was just one of those days...just one of those...

My twins are out in the backyard complaining. I really wanted to give them a skinny cow treat but I am fearful of where the chocolate will go after I give it to them.
Sarah is out front playing with her friends..she has homework to do....is she in as much denial as I am?
Today I spent my day talking to Shalani about Facebook and staying at home and played too many games of Scramble and a few games of Scrabble. I chatted a bit with Pat Ranahan, Alison, and briefly with my cuz. I visited with Jean and Kristin. What else ? Oh yes...I opened up my gmail account. I never use it. To my surprise I got this letter....so, if you live around here and like his cartoons...bring it on !

Now....back to my regularly scheduled program...back to the dishes and laudry and being the meanest mother on earth !!

Hi Gretchen,

I came across your site while looking for Contra Costa-area blogs, and I really liked it. I have a new baby girl (10 months old) myself, so I can only imagine how my own "I know what you did this summer..." list is going to grow. Right now it's filled with "Try to seem awake when people talk to you," and "find pants where you can still button the top button." I also loved your Montgomery Ward story. It's amazing how we view right/wrong at that age, isn't it? I can totally picture you all sitting in that security office, thinking you did something no less than shoot the Pope.

Anyway, so, I had this weird favor to ask of you. And this is probably the strangest request you've ever received. I'm a writer and cartoonist, and I've got this newly-syndicated comic called "DeFlocked" that's running as a trial in your newspaper right now, the Contra Costa Times. They're deciding on whether or not to keep it permanently, and unfortunately, I'm up against some pretty well-established strips. Problem is, I literally know NOBODY out your way.

If you had a minute, would you mind checking out my strip at www.deflocked.com, and, if you like my sense of humor, maybe quickly sending a couple nice words about it over to the CC Times' editors at ccnletters@bayareanewsgroup.com? Positive feedback is a huge factor in their decision on which comics to keep in their newspaper. It wouldn't take much time, and it would truly help me out in a big way.

And hey - if you wanted to post something about this on your blog and/or forward this along to all your friends/fam/co-workers, that would be awesome. Seriously - strength in numbers, you know? I'm on trial only until September 20, so the more support I can grow, the better. My strip has been slowly building a loyal following (even got an endorsement from Larry David!), but I'm still just a newbie and I honestly could use all the help I can get.

Anyway, thanks for considering all this, Gretchen, and keep up the great work on your blog (p.s. - I'm sorry to hear about your cousin). Have a nice weekend, and I'll talk to you soon.

Best,
Jeff Corriveau
